Two Brooklyn hipsters (for lack of a better term) adjust to one culture-shocking move to the Deep South, as one earns a grad degree at LSU and the other continues to be a majorly awesome writer.
Is that the former Dee & Dee Store on 14th Street? What happened? Another discount chain has semi-bitten the dust and been bought out or changed names to avoid tax issues?
Colleen Kane has been a writer and editor for BUST, Playgirl, and other magazines and books, and has contributed to SPIN, Anthem, and Time Out New York, among other fine publications.
She coined the term "williamsjerk," which refers to the jerkass hipsters in Williamsjerk, Brooklyn. She also coined the term BaRou, for her new hometown of Baton Rouge. You're welcome.
